How to use a table runner

Your table runner is the base for the focal point of your table setting. The first step of styling with a table runner is deciding if you are going to use a tablecloth as well as a runner or just the runner on its own.
Table runners can be used with or without a tablecloth. Some people prefer the look of their natural wood table with the soft touch of a table runner. Others like a more layered look for their table setting which can be created by using a tablecloth as well as a table runner.
Place the table runner in the center of the table, running parallel to the longest side. Ensure that the runner is evenly positioned and straight along the length of the table.
You runner can hang over the edge of the table or it can be shorter than the table and just feature in the center of the table without overhang.
Once you have your table runner in place you can add additional decorations like everlasting foliage and dinner candles to complete your look. If you are using a table runner without a table cloth you might also want to consider adding placemats to your setting to protect your table surface.
Table runners aren’t just for a dinner party. You can also style your dining table with a table runner for everyday decorating. Think outside the dining table. You can also use a table runner along a side board or console table. 

Can you use table runners on round table?

You can absolutely use table runners for round tables. Drape them over the center of your round table just as you would a square or rectangle. 

Can you wash table runners?

Depending on the material of your tabel runner you should absolutely be able to wash it in a standard home washing machine. Be careful to follow the care instructions on the label of your runner as different materials do require different care information. 

How to care for a linen table runner

Our general advice for washing linen table runners is to maching wash at or below 40C.
Do not use bleach or other harsh chemicals as this can damage the natural fibre of the linen. Tumble dry at a low temperature or line dry in the shade.
Dry cleaning is not recommended.
Iron your table runner on the reverse side with a protective cloth to avoid any scorch marks or damage to the fabric.
